The space in front of the Savior-Transfiguration Cathedral is a landmark, it has always been a point of universal attraction.
The improvement project of the main square of the city has been initiated for many reasons. One of them was the lack of perspective and obstructed view from the main entry path to the square due to overgrown trees. Other reasons were the dilapidated buildings, that are not of architectural value, and sagging power lines near the the Savior-Transfiguration Cathedral.
The project provided for clearing the soil priming, in some places, replacing with the paving. The upper layers of the soil cover would be removed to restore the proportional harmony of the entire composition. It is proposed to organize a full-fledged space for walks and places for rest. An easy access to the bust of the Holly Prince Alexander Nevsky would be arranged. The reconstruction of the square and the addition of the sculptural composition “Initiation into the Warriors”, revealing the theme of the feat and sacrificial service to the people and the country in Russian history, is in the plans.
